This past year has been one of the best, most challenging yet rewarding years of my life! From completing my final year in University to traveling around Europe and everything in between. Along the way, I learned a few things and I’m very excited to share ten things I learned in 2015!
10 things I Learned from 2015
Don’t be so hard on yourself ~
What a lot of people don’t know about me is that I am extremely hard on myself. I try my best in all things and when things don’t go as planned, I get very upset and ultimately give up on trying to make the situation better. Things don’t always go as planned and life is all about evolving and growing – don’t forget that!
Enjoy the little things ~
I truly believe it’s all about the little things in life! Getting into comfy pjs, sipping on hot chocolate, cuddling with my little pooch, the smell of candles, the smell of cookies in the oven… living away from home in another country has definitely taught me to enjoy the little things!
Be yourself ~
You can’t make everyone happy and that’s alright! We all want people to like us, but not everyone will and we need to accept that and realize it is not the end of the world. Who knows why some people feel the way they do – you can’t please everyone. Be the best person you can be, be kind, be genuine and don’t take things personally.
It’s okay not to be perfect ~
No one is perfect – if they were, how boring would life be? Be proud and accept who you are and others will too!
Invest in people who invest in you ~
True friends are hard to come by and I feel as though I have spent many years being friends with people where I felt I invested in more than they invested in me. Relationships are a two way street and if both parties are not invested in each other, what is the point? These days I spend my time with people who put in the same amount of effort that I do. Find people who truly care about you and want to be a part of your life.
Negativity kills ~
Life isn’t always a good time, there will be good and bad moments, but living in a positive manner will make all the difference! Being positive is not always easy, but it is an attitude you should always strive for in order live a happier life.
Let it go, let it go ~
This goes along with much of what I have said already. I’m a planner and it’s very difficult to accept that things don’t always go as I planned them to go. This year I was forced to work on controlling what I could and letting go of things I couldn’t control. This is something I still struggle with – definitely a work in progress!
Take care of your skin, hair and body ~
I cannot explain just how important this is. Invest in good products – treat yourself and your body – it’ll thank you for it later and you’ll feel a lot better in your skin!
Say yes, woman ~
It is difficult to say yes sometimes. It is important to take risks sometimes, you never know what can come from it! Take a deep breath and go for it! Life is too short, make sure you live it to its fullest!
Hard work pays off ~
In order to be successful, you need to put the work in. There are no short cuts. Set goals for yourself and work hard at it. You can do anything you put your mind to.
Thank you for reading about what I have learned in 2015. I honestly can’t wait to see what 2016 brings for all of us!
