I planned to post this awhile ago, but for some reason I never did… better late than never, right?!
As you may or may not know, I said “YES TO THE DRESS” last October and should be getting my dress in pretty soon! With that being said, I thought it would be a fun idea to see what my fiancé thinks my dress will look like so I can compare to what my dress actually looks like.
If you know me, you would know I am crazy about vintage/victorian wedding dress styles. I love lace and off the shoulder long sleeves – it seems like that’s the trend now too! But let me just tell you, long sleeve dresses are SO HARD TO FIND! Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of long sleeve dresses out there, but I found that a lot of them are very covered and/or just didn’t suit my body type as well as I hoped.
From the very beginning of my dress hunt, I had a perfect dress in mind and was always disappointed when I realized a dress had one element I loved, but then had others that I didn’t like so much. It is so hard to find a dress when you know exactly what you want… if you want to read some of my tips for Wedding Dress shopping, click HERE!
Now, what I am sure we are all curious to know/see (I know I was) is the assortment of dresses my fiancé thinks my wedding dress will look like…
As you can tell from his screenshots, he definitely thinks I will be wearing a long sleeve, tight wedding dress!
This dress is really pretty – very simple and very covered. Like I mentioned previously, most of the long sleeve dresses I found, were completely covered on the top and that was something I didn’t like. While I don’t want to be showing too much skin, I also don’t want to feel like I am wearing a turtle neck! This dress is also a little too plain for me – I love the lace on the top, but I would like some lace on the bottom half, especially the train!
This dress is gorgeous as well! I love the lace detail on the sleeves! I also love that it is form-fitting around the hips as that is definitely something I’d like to accentuate as I am very petite and slim. HOWEVER, me being me, I wouldn’t like having my full neck and chest exposed like that and would rather it be a little bit more covered and/or off the shoulder.
This dress is also pretty and I love the lace detailing all over the dress, BUT, it is definitely a no because of how open it is on the top. If I had a fuller chest, then I would love something like this, however, I do not and it wouldn’t fit the way I would want it to!
Honestly, I don’t like this dress at all. The lace is pretty, but I really don’t like the look of the open back like that. For some reason, I don’t like seeing a hole on the back of the dress. I’d rather it be a low back or an illusion back!
I really like the illusion back and I love that it is a mermaid style with sleeves. I don’t know what it looks like in the front, but just by looking at this picture, I really like it and definitely a dress I would have loved to try on!
Again with the hole in the back… I really don’t know why but I just don’t like that look. The style of the dress seems like it is an a-line and I feel like I would be swimming in it! Definitely not something I would take off the rack to try on.
So there you have it – that is what my fiancé thinks my wedding dress will look like! I love that he stuck with the long sleeve and lace theme. I can tell he likes very simple, form fitting dresses… so hopefully my actual wedding dress doesn’t disappoint!
Big shoutout to my fiancé, OZZ! THANK YOU FOR THE BLOG POST IDEA! You did so well with your choices!
