I know the holiday season is over but because I wasn’t home until after Christmas, the holidays are not yet over in my mind! I thought I’d post one more holiday/New Years themed post before moving on to reality.
Here are of few of my New Years resolutions that I am going to strive for in order to stay organized, stay inspired and keep a positive mindset for the upcoming year!
~ Clean your space(s)
Start the new year fresh! I don’t know about you, but after the holidays, my house and my room are a complete disaster. It’s nice to take time to tidy up your living space – I always find it very refreshing to go through my room and my closet and reorganize to get ready for the winter season.
~ Get organized and STAY ORGANIZED
Time management is a very important skill to possess as it is used in daily life – whether you are getting ready to go out, have an appointment, have an assignment or test coming up, packing for a vacation, etc. If you are anything like me – someone who likes to plan – grab yourself a planner/agenda, it will be such a lifesaver! While I love to stay organized, I tend to get caught up in its presentation rather than its meaning – staying organized can be time consuming, but make sure you are doing it for the right reasons!
~ Drink more liquids (water)
Your body is made up of 50-75% of water and if your water intake does not equal your output, you can easily become dehydrated. Over the past few years, I have been really good at drinking my water, however, I seem to be good at drinking water only when I am at home. Water is so beneficial, it is so easy, so free yet so easily overlooked. This year I plan to invest in a good water bottle and stick with it, no matter where I am or where I go!
~ Improve your diet
I believe this is always going to be a work-in-progress goal/resolution but I had to mention it! I am a sucker for all things chocolate, sweet and/or crunchy and once I start, I can’t stop! I hope to find healthier snack options to help me stay away from all of the junk foods calling my name.
~ Set fitness goals
This is also a work-in-progress as my fitness goals are always changing and evolving. I think it is very important to not only stick to a fitness routine, but also to have end goals – do you know what you working towards? What do you hope to improve? Set your fitness goals, work hard and reach for them!
Take time for yourself ~
Make time for yourself! Do things you like to do – relax and spoil yourself when you’re having a bad day – or even when you are having a good day! It is important to remember that YOU ARE IMPORTANT! Don’t forget about your happiness!
~ Be positive / Get inspired
I have recognized how important it is to keep a positive mindset, to be optimistic about life and about everything you do or encounter. It is so easy to be negative and judgmental and this is something I know I need to work on. I lack inspiration and I believe that ties in with building a positive mindset. What are some ways you get inspired?
~ Explore / Try New Things
I am not a big risk-taker, but I know I need to take more changes and be open to new things. Traveling and living in London, England for five months really took me out of my confront zone and while it was tough being away from home, it really taught me a lot about myself. Taking risks is not always as scary as it may seem in your head. Just go for it!
Reading is one of my favourite things to do, but I tend to forget to read a book as I am usually so caught up in a netflix show, a movie or even a YouTube video. I plan to set time aside each and every day to read and get lost in a book. Any recommendations?
~ Find a new hobby
This has been a LONG time coming – I am finally starting my own blog here at NicoleVaidosa and I plan to continue to do so throughout the year. I have wanted to start my own blog and YouTube channel for years but never got around to doing it. No more excuses, I am finally starting and intend on sticking with it!
