This week was a short week with Monday being Easter Monday, but it felt like the LONGEST WEEK EVER!
I thought I’d share with you all my first ever Sephora makeover I got last weekend! I go to Sephora quite often, but I have never had the chance to sit down and get my makeup done. Luckily, I remembered I had a free makeover experience coupon that came along with gaining VIP status – these do expire so make sure you check the expiry date and use it before you can’t anymore!
If you’re interested to know what products were used and my thoughts on the whole experience, keep on reading!
First step before applying any makeup is to tone, moisturize and prime! To be honest, I don’t always use a toner, however, I ALWAYS make sure to moisturize and prime my face before applying any foundation. I used some products from the Fresh skincare line – I have used their serum before so I knew I was going to love the toner as well!
The Fresh Rose Floral Toner comes in a spray bottle and all you do is spray a little onto a cotton pad and apply to the face… it feels SO nice on the skin!
The Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Creme is a lightweight gel cream and felt equally as good as the toner!
After those two steps, I used the Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Hydrating Primer and I really loved it!
This is my face after the three steps – tone, moisturize and prime… it was a bit much and the foundation didn’t sit well the first time around. While I am a firm believer in keeping your face hydrated and primed before applying makeup, you don’t need to add much, a little does go a long way!
For foundation, I used Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation and it felt very weightless as the name states and the coverage was nice.
For powder, I used Laura Mercier Mineral Powder SPF 15 and I really liked it! I am not a big fan of translucent powders and prefer powders that will give me a little more coverage and colour on top of my foundation.
For bronzer and blush I used Nars Bronzing Powder in the colour Laguna and Nars Blush in the colour Orgasm and I am absolutely in love with these colours! I have always heard people rave about them but I never really looked into them until now. I will definitely be purchasing these in the near future!
For highlight, I used Anastasia’s Glow Kit and it was nice, but not my favourite.
The mascara used was Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara and I honestly can’t say if I really liked it or not – when getting a makeover, they do not use the mascara wand, instead, they use a one-time use, disposable eyelash mascara wand. I wasn’t a big fan of how my eyelashes turned out – they were all clumped together and I didn’t like it one bit.
For eyebrows, I used Anastasia’s Brow Wiz and I actually have this and love it!
Lastly, for my lips I used Bobbi Brown Lip Colour in Medium Pink Brown.
Thank you Sephora for the free makeover!
While I did like the products used, I am not a big fan of getting my makeup done… I’d much rather do it myself. I think I am just too picky about how my eyelashes look and know I can get them looking a lot better than what others can do for me!
