CAN YOU BELIEVE IT IS ALMOST CHRISTMAS?! I cannot believe it’s a week away!
I can’t even believe I’ve been married for almost 3 months…
Your wedding day is supposed to be the most perfect day of your life, right? After the crazy amount of planning in the months leading up to that day, you’d think there would be no way anything would go wrong… but little do we know, wedding days have a mind of their own sometimes.
To be honest though, my wedding day WAS the most perfect day… despite the several things that went “wrong” on our wedding day…none of which were major issues… more like little surprises that weren’t planned!
So here are 5 Wedding Mishaps that happened on my wedding day…
OUR GUESTS SAW ME BEFORE I WALKED DOWN THE AISLEYup, you read that right. I should preface this by saying that our first look and wedding party photos were taken just across the street at a local garden/park so it did not take us long to get to the ceremony afterwards (and we were a bit early as our priest was very strict on timing). My hubby and I went to the ceremony separately – he went in the limo bus with the rest of the wedding party and I went in a different car with my brother and my father in law. When I arrived to the Church (15 minutes after the wedding party left), the priest was just getting everyone organized in their line up and guests were still strolling in. I think this was my one “bridezilla” moment as I was there exactly when I was supposed to be, yet the priest and guests were scrambling to get inside and get things in order. Our ceremony was set to begin at 3pm, yet things were running a little late and every guest walking in were walking past me to get inside the Church, so I decided to turn around and sit in the limo bus until they were all ready to star. In hindsight, it’s not that big of a deal but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still a little annoyed by it.
OUR INTRO VIDEO AT OUR RECEPTION LAGGED THE WHOLE TIME IT WAS PLAYING
This was the worst. My hubby and I love the song “Greatest Love Story” by LANCO, and I was so obsessed with the idea of having an intro video play before our reception entrance, and luckily for me, I have the BEST HUSBAND IN THE WORLD, and he agreed to do a singing duet with me that our friend (@coli_wog) helped us with! We then created a video to go along with the song/duet with the help of a friend of mine (@michaelfrymus). It turned out so AMAZING and we were so excited and proud to share it with all of our family and friends at our wedding. So there we are, on our wedding day, peaking into our reception hall to see how the video looks, and it’s L A G G I N G ! The video file was too big, or it wasn’t downloaded properly… long story short, the video lagged and we were pretty upset about it.
This is how it was actually supposed to look and sound like…
OUR RECEPTION ENTRANCE SONG WAS PLAYED ON THE WRONG CUE
Another reception hiccup… and a pretty big one if you ask my hubby (he really wasn’t impressed)! We decided to walk into one of our favourite Keith Urban songs – Never Coming Down – and if you’ve heard the song before, you know it picks up after the first verse… and that is the part we wanted to walk into with. We even gave our DJ clear times and instructions… but that wasn’t the part he played for us. Instead, he played the beginning of the song (the verse and the part we didn’t want)… but honestly, it was such a minor hiccup and only my hubby and I knew about it. Lesson here is – pick a song that you like the beginning of so there is no way they can mess it up!!!
OUR WEDDING GUESTBOOK WASN’T SIGNED BY ALL OF OUR GUESTS
This was really annoying and something I actually did consider before the wedding and how everything was set up. I decided to put our wedding guestbook beside our seating chart – an area I knew EVERY guest would visit or at least pass by in order to find our their seating arrangements. I assumed since everyone will be going over to the seating chart, they will 100% see the wedding guestbook and sign it before they go to find their seats. I think my mistake with this was 1. I shouldn’t have assumed and 2. I should have had a bridesmaid/groomsman stand next to the table and seating chart to remind guests to sign and help them find their seat!
OUR PHOTOGRAPHER LEFT BEFORE I CAME OUT IN MY SECOND DRESS + FLOWER BOUQUET TOSS
Ugh, this was really sad and I didn’t realize until after I received all of my wedding photos. I understand photographers and videographers work long days, especially at weddings, however, things happen and sometimes our schedules change (especially on your wedding day) and you would assume after paying all that $$$ that they would make sure they stay for the important events! Mind you, they captured a lot of what was on my list (yes, I had a list and I recommend every bride to have one for their videographers and photographers), so I shouldn’t complain. Definitely make sure you know the times your photographer/videographer will stay until so you can make sure all events you want captured… are captured!!!
So to all the future brides out there: expect the unexpected and embrace it!
